Using Device Emulator 3.0 to run Windows Mobile programs

In order to convert some e-Sword 8 modules into pocket e-Sword. I just prepared the emulator environment to do it.

  1. Download Device Emulator 3.0 from here.
  2. Install it to Windows machine.
  3. Download the emulator image installation file for WM5, WM6, WM614, WM65, WM653
  4. Use compress tools like 7-ZIP to open the msi file which download from previous step and extract the cab file.
  5. Open the cab file to extract the .BIN file for VGA or WVGA.
  6. Use the “DeviceEmulator.exe” to open the BIN file as follow: DeviceEmulator.exe /s myfile.dess PPC_VGA.BIN
  7. Once it started up, exit and save the state.
  8. Create a shortcut to run the “DeviceEmulator.exe” and using the save state file: DeviceEmulator.exe /s myfile.dess
