Ubuntu 10.04 autostart problem for awn and drapes fixed

2010/05/01

Just upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 from 9.10 and found that awn can’t autostart.

From syslog, it complaints about command error as new version change a bit. Fix is simply goto ‘System’ -> ‘Preferences’ -> ‘Awn Settings’ and un-check and check the setting for ‘Start Awn automatically’. This will recreate the awn.desktop under ‘~/.config/autostart/’ and do the job.

Drapes also have problem since I used it under 9.10 and it need manual start.

Found out today that the ’drapes.desktop’ file under ‘~/.config/autostart/’ failed to handle by gnome-session as it missed the ‘Type’ attribute. After add the line ‘Type=Application’ after ‘Version=1.0’ and it works now when login next time.

Name=Drapes
Encoding=UTF-8
Version=1.0
Type=Application <======== add this line
Exec=drapes
X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=true
